A simple guide to help you get there and set yourself up on arrival

happens if you win? Or, you may have already won the lottery and are wondering what comes next? I have personally won this visa, and so I will provide you with the details of this process.

Firstly, be aware that this will be a lengthy and somewhat expensive process. Between the time you enter the lottery and the time when you will enter the USA, at least 1 year will have passed. You will need to pay a processing fee and a separate visa fee if you are selected, on top of the medical, travel and accommodation fees that will be required during this process.

At around March of the year after you entered the Diversity

Firstly you will be required to fill out two forms detailing your past work experience, the schooling and (if any) tertiary training you have completed, questions about your family members, and other questions typical when filling out a form. You will send these two completed forms, with a visa-sized photo of yourself, back to the address indicated on your forms.

 

What happens when you win the Diversity Visa lottery?

Several months after you have mailed back the paperwork you will receive a letter saying that you have been given a specific date and time over the upcoming few months to visit one of your country’s local US Embassies for your Diversity Visa interview. You will also be informed of what paperwork you will need to bring with you to this interview.

Visa Lottery you will receive notification via post that your entry is eligible for further processing. This does not mean that you have been guaranteed a Diversity Visa; however your application will be successful as long as you act quickly and provide the requested documents to the office in Kentucky, USA.
Keep in mind that around 100,000 people will receive letters saying they have been selected for further processing. Of these 100,000 entries, only 50,000 people will be granted permanent residency to move to the United States of America, and you must act fast to ensure the quota of 50,000 is not depleted before your Diversity Visa is approved. An extra 50,000 people will receive notification they have won as it is assumed not all winners will complete the process and move to the United States.
